I have cultivated an accomplished and extensive career across branding, content development, advertising & communications, digital media & technology. I bring creative management experience forged from the corporate world along with having founded and managed 2 new media startups.

The author of a forward-thinking digital media blog, prior board member of the Art Directors Club and judge for the Emmy Award’s Blue Ribbon broadband category. I have participated at industry events such as: Adtech, CES, Digital Hollywood, Adage 2.0, Social Media Week and The Sundance Film Festival.

I am an Art Center College of Design alumni.

Sundance Institute – Los Angeles – January 2016 – July 2017
Director of Marketing and Communications

Founded in 1981 by Robert Redford, Sundance Institute is a nonprofit organization that provides and preserves the space for artists in film, theatre, and new media to create and thrive. The Institute’s signature Labs, granting, and mentorship programs, dedicated to developing new work, take place throughout the year in the U.S. and internationally. The Sundance Film Festival and other public programs connect audiences to artists in igniting new ideas, discovering original voices, and building a community dedicated to independent storytelling.

As Director of Marketing & Communications and as a part of the senior leadership team, Jared oversaw all external communications for the Institute, including supervision of the marketing, social, digital and media relations teams.  He supervised brand strategy and messaging, developed methods to grow constituencies and launched new collaborations to tell the story of the Institute’s artists, programs and activities.

MWW Group – New York – 2010 – 2013

#1 mid-sized independent agency for 3 years running. 2011 saw MWW buy itself back from the IPG Network to become private once again. Responsible for building the digital media team, Jared directed digital research and strategy for the social media and creative teams across all practice areas. Under Jared’s leadership, MWW recognized the need for its clients to leverage the power of digital and social strategy, content creation, distribution and measurement. Jared was also responsible for the marketing and rebranding of MWW following the buyback from IPG. Clients included Nikon USA, Samsung, McDonalds, Sara Lee, Deloitte, Pitney Bowes, Subaru, Booking.com, Vimeo, Nextag, Jet Blue, Virgin America, United Airlines and State of New Jersey Economic Development Authority.

Named Top 10 in advertising and marketing by Fast Company, Katalyst is a studio for social media that connects entertainment with technology and brands.  Founded in 2000 by Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg, Katalyst supports business lines through film, television and digital properties and ideas. At Katalyst, Jared created the conversations that drove engagement. Katayst aimed to lead the movement towards social media programming and social media marketing that united brands and consumers around a common cause, product, interest or activity. Client responsibilities included Clorox, CoverGirl, ClearChannel, Cosmopolitan Hotel, Diagio, Microsoft, Nikon, Purina and VitaminWater.

Edelman Digital – New York – 2008 – 2010
Worldwide Executive Creative Director

Specializing in digital engagement, Jared helped Edelman’s clients to create a compelling and engaging digital presence by promoting their brands and business through digital media. Jared’s leadership expertise included everything from web site builds, Facebook programs, e-kits, online media relations, online promotions and partnerships, to email marketing and mobile campaigns. The digital team protected and enhanced our client’s reputations with online monitoring, digital advocacy, crisis sites and the proactive use of search as a reputational tool. We encouraged our client’s participation by inspiring online conversation about their brands and businesses by and amongst influential stakeholders via blogs, social media and community engagement. Clients included, Ebay, Wallmart, Ben & Jerry’s, Microsoft, HP, Starbucks, Samsung, Burger King, Quaker, Amtrak, Clorox, American Heart Association, Empire State Building, Unilever, Glaxo Smith Kline and The National Dairy Board.

SmashTube is an entertainment studio creating Branded Entertainment and Original Video Programming for online and mobile media networks. Back when YouTube was an unheard of startup, we believed that mobile content would be more than the next big thing, not just for the entertainment industry, but for advertisers as well. SmashTube works with online distributors and syndicators on behalf of their clients – initiating viral presence on the web & mobile platforms. They combine award-winning Hollywood producers and directors with Madison Avenue veterans in order to create programming of value for their client’s audiences. Their creative partners are Sundance nominees and short film award winners. Smashtube consults with Fortune 500 brands and Advertising Agencies to bring a better understanding of content creation and distribution as a relevant marketing tool for the future.

MarketingForce & MyAdGuys – New York – 2000 – 2006
Founding Partner – Chief Creative Officer: Product Development, Marketing & Operations

Built as a brand management platform for large brands, MarketingForce delivered Madison Avenue expertise to channel partners of Fortune 500 brands all via the web. The application automated & controlled the distribution & customization of materials, in addition to providing added-value tools such as automated direct mail fulfillment, along with media planning & buying. Clients included American Express, Motorola, ERA, Century 21, Coldwell Banker, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Serta, AgFirst Bank, Assante, Dex Media & YouthAids.

Additionally, a solution for the SoHo/SME market brought Madison Avenue expertise to small businesses. The application enabled small businesses to create professional campaigns for on & offline use without the expense of a professional marketing agency. Integration with fulfillment of traditional direct mail and digital campaigns enabled the platform to offer one-stop implementation. MyAdGuys offered private/white label implementation for American Express & Dex Media.

Founded & creatively managed G2 (Grey/WPP’s Integrated Communications and Strategic Branding Agency) to become one of the most successful Grey subsidiaries.
